Tourist hails Tobago healthcare after surviving shark assault

BRITISH tourist Peter Smith has praised the health system in Tobago after getting higher from a shark assault on April 26 at Turtle Seaside.

Smith, who’s in his 60s, became attacked by a bull shark whereas bathing in knee-high water advance the shoreline. He became bitten on his torso and leg.

Smith, who became staying at the in trend Starfish Resort, Turtle Seaside alongside with his family, became taken to the Scarborough Commonplace Sanatorium for emergency medicine. He became airlifted to the Jackson Memorial Sanatorium in Miami on April 30.

A Tobago crew, including Secretary of Tourism Tashia Burris, met Smith in London closing week at the World Whisk Market in London and he became in steady spirits.

In a video posted on the Location of enterprise of the Chief Secretary (OCS) Facebook page on November 14, OCS acknowledged Smith became proudly championing Tobago, praising the unbelievable care and hospitality he experienced for the length of his lag.

Smith acknowledged he “had a gargantuan time” in Tobago taking half in golf, swimming and fishing.

“I cherished the island. I cherished the folk, I had a gargantuan journey.

“Unfortunately, on my closing day I had an accident. I became swimming within the ocean and if truth be told on occasion, exceptionally, I became attacked by a shark. I obtained hasty taken within the sanatorium in Tobago. I had to thank all of the medical doctors and nurses within the Tobago sanatorium who if truth be told saved my existence. I had to thank all of the folk on legend of they had been if truth be told form to my family whereas they had been there.”

Smith spent five weeks within the Miami sanatorium but acknowledged he can now not slit trace the care he obtained in Tobago.

“They could perhaps well now not delight in taken any higher care of me and my family. I if truth be told win bask in Tobago no topic what took place of dwelling. I believed it became a ideal trying place of dwelling with if truth be told nice folk. Would I return again? Yeah, I’d.”
